Lark Lettering Challenge: Letter the Rainbow

If you follow Lark Lettering on Instagram or Facebook, you may have noticed that our aesthetic has been a bit bright lately. We’ve been conducting an experiment where we letter the rainbow. At the beginning of the year we began with white — easy enough — and then merged into yellow after falling the sunny hue in Spain this winter.

We’ll be moving into the color orange next as we continue to letter our way through the rainbow. Join us for this next Lark Lettering Challenge and use hashtag #lettertherainbow and #larkletteringchallenge. We’d love to see what you’re working on!

National Handwriting Day, Then and Now #homwork

For National Handwriting Day, it seemed only appropriate to honor it by hand, not by a digital medium. Made that good ol’ fashioned way with a sketch pad and pencil, then tracing paper and Faber-Castell brush marker at Ada’s Technical Book Store at our little Hand Lettering session.

Here’s a version I lettered last year on National Handwriting Day. I am still really proud of all the embellishments that don’t come terribly naturally to me. So different!

And the #larkletteringchallenge winner is…

During the month of August we hosted a 30-day lettering challenge and lettered our way through the alphabet together. We loved the engagement it brought and are overdue on drawing one lucky winner.
