Good things come to those who brunch. I sooo miss sitting down for a meal with friends on a crowded outdoor patio and shooting the breeze while sipping mimosas. Grateful that restaurants and food trucks still have take out options right now. What’s your go-to brunch order?

The Only Way Out is Through
The only way out is through. We’re on Day 7 of social distancing in Albuquerque and weathering the storm. Things feel like they’ve changed dramatically in a few short weeks.
I hope you’re staying healthy and tapping into your support systems and resilience. We’re going to push through.
Barn’s burned down, now I can see the moon
It’s funny how we hold onto things so tightly, thinking that if we let them go we’ll somehow cease to be who we are. It’s magic when you release something you have held so tightly, be it a relationship, a job, a situation, a commitment, and in the vacancy it left behind you can finally breathe. Look yourself in the eye. Evolve. And make space for what is waiting to be born through you.

Lark Lettering sketches
I hope you blow your own damn mind sometimes.
Recently while cleaning my office, I came across old sketches of mine, many of which had never seen the light of day. They were damn good, not gonna lie. I had a proud moment looking back at the creativity that has been flowing through me and gave myself a much needed pat on the back. It’s great to pause, take stock, and recognize your excellent work! Your hungry creative heart will thank you for it.
Happy weekend!
These sketches were created using pen and watercolor on tracing, layout bond, and mixed media paper.
Women’s Bodies Cannot be Legislated
Women’s bodies cannot be legislated.
Women’s bodies are not within the public domain.
Women’s bodies do not fall under a democracy.
Each woman is her own sovereign.
That is all.
Caras de Flamenco | Dance and Design Project
Here’s a project that I’ve been working on that blends my love of design, dance and typography! Caras de Flamenco is an evening of flamenco produced by yours truly, featuring local flamenco dancers and musicians in an intimate venue. Here’s the poster design with the Caras de Flamenco hand lettered logo by Lark Lettering.
Each of the artists also got their own poster. Instead of having the logo as a watermark in the corner, I decided to have it blend into the background and fill the frame.
The show will be held on Saturday, April 27 (21+) and Sunday, April 28 (all ages show) and tickets are available through Stranger Tickets. Join us!
Watercolor Wedding Behind the Scenes
It’s been wedding central over here this week! For her table setting chart, the lovely bride had a DIY moment and painted her own watercolor postcards for me to add wedding calligraphy overtop. I used Golden acrylic ink with a 2/0 brush, doing a calligraphic font for the table number and block capital letters for the names. Rulers and erasers were my friends this week!
Seville Travel Lettering
Flew into Seville this week and it’s my first stop in Spain, where I’ll be for the next several weeks. On my train ride from Seville to Cadiz, here’s a little project. This warm yellow color is the color of Spain — you see it everywhere in Andalusia and it’s quickly become a favorite of mine.
Where are you itching to travel to next?
Happy Lunar New Year, Year of the Pig!
Happy Lunar New Year! The fireworks at midnight warmed my Eurasian heart. Here’s to the year of the pig, may it be filled with peace and prosperity!
London Blackletter Calligraphy | Travel Lettering
Next month, I’m embarking on a trip to Europe, starting in London, then onto Madrid and to the south of Spain for my annual flamenco pilgrimage. It’s my first time in London, so if you have any favorite places to recommend, please share!
Lately I’m completely obsessed with blackletter calligraphy and am waiting with bated breath to see all the incredible hand drawn signs London has to offer! I promise to share!
